LAS VEGAS, NV – October 18, 2017 |

Today at Adobe® MAX, HP will showcase the world’s most powerful detachable PC1 designed to solve the performance and mobility needs of artists, designers and digital imaging professionals who need to push Adobe Creative Cloud® and other professional applications to the limit. The performance of the HP ZBook x2, the world’s first detachable workstation,15 increases productivity and allows digital creators and storytellers the freedom to work when and where inspiration strikes.

HP’s reinvention of detachable PCs began earlier this year with the introduction of the HP Spectre x2 and the HP Elite x2. Today’s introduction of the HP ZBook x2 completes HP’s trifecta with its most powerful detachable solution targeted for the creative community. With this new offering, HP is extending its PC leadership by pioneering a new era for detachable PCs that offer superb performance, elegance and efficiency.

“As the world’s most powerful and first detachable PC workstation, there is no device better suited to turn the vision of artists and designers into reality,” said Xavier Garcia, vice president and general manager, HP Z Workstations, HP Inc. “With the HP ZBook x2, we are delivering the perfect tool to accelerate the creative process – with unprecedented power, performance and natural ease-of-use. This device will make it easier than ever for creators to do what they do best – bring inspiring new ideas to life and enrich the world around us.”

Liberating Digital Creativity

The HP ZBook x2 allows designers to effortlessly create with quad-core Intel® Core™ processors2, twice the memory of any other detachable PC3 and NVIDIA® Quadro® Graphics that deliver 73 percent higher graphics performance compared to the Surface Pro4. A quiet, dual-fan active cooling system is designed to dissipate heat from the powerful graphics card and processor. To better meet the needs of the creative community, including Adobe users, HP also developed customizable, application-aware HP Quick Keys, to provide artists with 18 time-saving shortcuts.

“At Adobe, our goal is to accelerate creativity. Creative Cloud is the platform that enables us to deliver powerful innovation in our apps and cloud-based services supported by Adobe Sensei with artificial intelligence at the heart of every customer experience,” said Mala Sharma, vice president and general manager, Creative Cloud Product, Marketing and Community. “Adobe is thrilled with our collaboration with HP, which we know will further fuel creativity and give Creative Cloud members more power and freedom to create wherever inspiration strikes.”

Today, many creative professionals use multiple devices such as a MacBook Pro plus an iPad to accomplish the same tasks that can be done on the HP ZBook x2. Knowing that ultimate mobility is important, HP created a single device that delivers the same performance capabilities from inking to docked mode.

HP’s most versatile detachable to date, the HP ZBook x2 operates in four modes: laptop, detached, docked and tablet.

Dave Helmly Adobe Premiere Pro New Features NABShow 2016…

Dave Helmly Head of Global Digital Audio/Video at Adobe Systems demos the top features coming in the next release for Adobe Creative Cloud in Premiere Pro.

Some of the things Dave shows us is the new Workflows including the new Proxies. He explains that it’s really helpful for all the newer high resolution workflows where the timeline gets longer it may make sense to switch to proxies. Also this will really help if you are on a lesser powered machine like a mobile laptop or one with a less capable graphics card this is for you.

Also Lumetri has been updated and HSL Secondaries have been added. Now it will be much easier to create a key and change specific colors like he demos on the gentleman’s jacket how easy it is now to turn it into whatever color you desire with very little effort thanks to this new addition. Another huge addition is control surface support. Now the Tangent panels like the wave, or the element will be supported. I am testing this now and have to say…this is so awesome..! Also a big announcement is the new Tangent Ripple which comes to market at a USD price of only $350 is incredible. I got to see Robbie Carman in the Adobe Booth at NABShow demoing the use of the Ripple controlling the Lumetri panel and as he said to the audience…watch me step away from the computer so you can see that I’m not using the mouse or keyboard to control the Lumetri panel.

Another cool company being shown for control surface support as well is a new company to me called Palette Gear. What is really unique about their product is that it’s modular. You can build up as few or as many lil I’ll call pod pieces from programmable knobs, buttons to sliders they can all be mapped to certain functions in your nle, audio application, or other various applications that can support Palette. I’d like to take a closer look at this in the future.

Captions gets a big improvement as well. Dave shows us how is and capable it is. Changing colors, various fonts supported, all very dynamic.

VR or 360 video is uber big all over NABShow this year. Nearly everywhere you looked you could find something to do with VR. Adobe also has some support for VR. Some of the new capabilities will allow you to bring in your 360 or VR video stitched and be able to change the views from 4:3 to wide views, zoom around, or put on glasses and really get immersed into the Virtual Reality. Also support for 3rd Party plugins like Mettle for example.

Lastly Dave shows us the new Media Encoder options for exports which also include a new VR option.

As you can see Adobe is always improving their already very capable nle with more professionals switching to Premiere and Big Hollywood movies like Gone Girl, Hail Caesar, and Deadpool all heavily used Adobe products to create those films it’s no wonder we are getting some really amazing updates.

Looking forward for you all to start enjoying the new features.

Here’s a video with Dave Helmly in the Adobe Booth at NABShow 2016..!

A video on the Pallete Gear control surfaces that are now supported in Premiere and other Adobe apps..!

Below is a shot of the $350 Tangent Ripple that was on display in the Adobe NABShow Booth..!

VR and Premiere Pro with Mettle Skybox 360/VR Tools..!

Best..!

HP Z Workstations Upgrade and 1TB Z Turbo Drive G2…

Today Hp increases expandability with upgrades to the Z Workstation line of Products including the HP Z840, Z640, and the Z440 with newer faster memory, cpu’s(Xeons), latest AMD, Nvidia, and more including the latest HP Z Turbo Drive Generation 2 with capacity now 1TB just ahead of NABShow coming up next month in Las Vegas(the largest Media and Entertainment expo in the world). This is very welcome as the 1st Gen were certainly faster(faster than a typical SSD attached to the port opposed to the bus via the pci-e card slot)but the smaller capacity fills up fast. The latest Gen 2 Z Turbo drive is 4 times the read performance of traditional SSD/s at comparable prices. I’ve been running the HP Z Turbo Drives since Gen 1. I’m also running both Gen 2 as well as the HP Z Turbo Quad Drive which is also uber fast with speeds up to 16x performance of Sata SSD’s(more on that in another post to follow).

What’s really fantastic about this is the fact that compared to say Gen 1 Turbo drive to get this capacity you’d need to drop at least two 512GB Gen 1 Z Turbo Drives(taking up two slots which could be used for I/O, single slot GPU for GUI, Raid Card etc-if your like me my machines is built up from top to bottom with every slot being occupied). On top of it to get the best performance out of the Gen 1 you might consider creating a Raid 0 software Raid as also your increasing the capacity. I did just this when I got the Gen 1 Z Turbo Drives. You can check out how to do this in Windows guide here which also shows you how I set it up for working with some of the Adobe Creative Cloud Products.
